Hello,

Commonly bruises occur due to some blunt impact or when you bump against some hard object and sometimes it may occur due to skin fragility. Other factors that may cause such symptoms are when small blood vessels under the skin tear or rupture. Blood leaks into tissues under the skin.

It causes black-and-blue color of the skin and may be painful or cause discomfort. You are suggested to apply a thick layer of ointment Thrombophob on the area affected to reduce inflammation and reduce any blood clots or swelling. Continue applying it for a few days. The bruise should get reduced. You can take Acetaminophen, one SOS when you experience pain or discomfort.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
