What Causes Bruises Around Stomach In A Diabetic With History Of Heart Attack?

I have small round bruises around my stomach area circling the naval region. Never had these before but they showed up in the last three days or so. I am overweight and I am diabetic. I ve already had a heart attack in 2010 and 2 stents were inserted. I am on an aspirin for blood thining. I also take high blood pressure medication.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The bruises around stomach in diabetic patient can be related to:
- Medicine induced side effect through capillary hemorrhage as aspirin (blood thinner)
- Secondary to subcutaneous injection of insulin (if taken around navel)
- Bacterial or other infection of skin
- Systemic alteration in liver functioning as increased prothrombin time or others

Immediately stop to take further doses of aspirin now on wards and consult your doctor or present at 911.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
