What Causes Bruises On Legs And Arms?

In the past 3 months, I have gotten 3 or 4 bruises; about 1 per month. 2 have been on my legs, 2 on my arms. I had one large on on my arm and one large on on my leg. The other two were normal sized. Each one goes away and is not painful, but I don t know where they came from. I feel healthy and keep fit. Is this reason for concern.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello,

As per your case history of recurrent bruises my advice is:
• Bruises may be due to medicines like Aspirin if you are taking it.
• It may be age related, a condition called as senile purpura.
• Take a vitamin C supplement twice daily for 30 days. Apply a plain Calamine lotion twice daily.
• If condition persists then you need to go for investigations like bleeding time, clotting time, and prothrombin time.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech
