What Causes Bruising And Swelling On Ankle Caused After Injury?

I fell down into a 3-4 foot ditch while hiking and twisted my ankle, i felt nauseous at first but had no swelling or bruise until later that night, 3 nights late my ankle is swollen, slightly bruised , cant put any weight on it, and when i do try walking my ankle gives n turns in. I broke both wrist with no bruising or swelling showed and ended up having hair line fractures through out my wrists. Does this sound like i might have broken or have a fracture? Or is it just a sprain? Nothing is easing any pain.

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Trauma to the ankle followed by swelling and pain suggests can be due to fracture or soft tissue injury. I suggest you to consult an orthopedist for clinical assessment, X-ray to rule out any fracture and thus management. Fracture required immobilization for at least three weeks. Sprain also requires immobilization for 1-2 weeks.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
