My name is Isha and I have bruises on both of my legs for weeks and they don t go away or fade away either. I was just diagnose with osteoarthritis on my feet and on my left foot i have a bone spur also that hurts 24/7. I have been taking medications and also a shot but pain still there. Also the skin on my feet is very dry and it peels off in layers . I can literally take my whole sole and I wont bleed. Doctors in Fl don t seem they really want to find out the reason why or even seem to care. I been having problems with my feet since I m 7 and I m 37 now. Bruises don t hurt but they wont go away either. I get bruised really easy. Please help me.
You should not be worried. These are probably varicose veins which are enlargement of legs veins due to weakened vessel wall and insufficiency of vein valves.
It is usually caused by long standing, obesity and genetic factors. Such veins break easily and hematomas may occur even after minor trauma.
It should be treated as usual with ice compresses, resting, bandages with pressure, and elastic stockings. In severe cases, it can be treated with surgery which is also a permanent solution then.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Iven Romic Rommstein, General Surgeon
