What Causes Bruising On The Old Scar?

Hi, When I was 9 years old I feel and broke my chin open, soft tissue injury only for what I got stitches. It was done by a plastic surgeon, so it s not a noticeable scar, but today ( I m 25) I woke up and it s bruised around the scar area. I haven t had any recent trauma in the area. Why would this happen? Thanks in advance!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It could be due to some unnoticed trauma might be during sleep or before you had gone for sleep.

It not related to your previous injury before approx 15 years.

You can apply ice wrapped the cloth over the affected area.

Anti the inflammatory drug can be prescribed.

Vitamin K containing cream can be applied over that.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
