What Causes Bruising On The Wrist?

I have taken Nexium (gerd) and Symbicort (asthma related to gerd) for several months. I noticed last Thursday what appeared to be a bruised area on wrist (near watchband), thought it was bruise but it did not heal like a bruise (blue/yellow, etc). Instead, it turned more of a dark purplish color. It's still there but seems to be diminshing in size (about size of 2 postage stamps side by side. I read on web sites that this could be caused by either Symbicort or Nexium. I've called my pulmonologist but haven't gotten return call yet. I would appreciate your response as I'm a bit concerned here. I'm 63, in good health, 5'9", 138 pounds. Thank you.
