What Causes Buffalo Hump, Extreme Fatigue And Loss Of Sense Of Smell?
I have gained 50 lbs this year, menses were regular since age 14 I m 42 now, it stopped for 67 days, have pronounced buffalo hump, fatigue unlike any I ever experienced. no longer have sense of smell. Primary physician running labs but won t refer to endocrinologist yet. I told him my BCBS doesn t require referral to specialist but I d appreciate his support. he isn t willing to assist. My family believes an MRI is necessary but don t want to offend Primary.
Buffalo hump, weight gain and fatigue indicates a condition that is caused by hormonal disturbances particularly of steroids and maybe thyroid.
Hence you need to undergo all the hormonal assays and the reports to be correlated with the clinical presentation as you have explained and the signs the Doctor finds. I am sure all these investigations are underway by your Doctor. Other investigations particularly of MRI abdomen and pituitary are done if the blood reports suggest so. Suprarenal glands are primarily evaluated. Further management will be as per the reports and to be continued under the supervision of your Doctor which I am sure again that he shall refer to the Endocrinologist.
I hope this answer helps you. Let me know if I can assist you further.
