Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 82 year old wife awoke this morning with complaining of her forearm veins bulging -- more in one arm than the other. She is thin and the skin is thin. She also said it felt like little bugs were in her arm. Any suggestions? The symptoms have decreased during the day.
Hello, Thanks for trusting Healthcaremagic! I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns. Bulging veins are common in elderly especially among thin people with low body fat. As you get older, the veins in your hands may become more visible. In most cases visible veins in hands are not a sign of a medical condition, or of any other problems. If the size increases or develop any other symptoms like pain, consult a physician and get evaluated. She might require a dopplar scan.
