What Causes Bulging Veins On The Right Forearm?

My Mom 81 has a began to notice her right hand and forearm have bulging veins. It is sudden onset, and started last night. It was not as bad today, but still noticeable, but tonight it is very pronounced. She doesn t have the bulging veins anywhere else, and it doesn t hurt, there was no injury to the area, no redness or swelling other than the actual veins in her thumb area and forarm. What could cause this and should I be concerned.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

In some individuals the veins are more prominent, these are normal features and nothing to worry about it. If the bulging is recent in onset, you can consult a general surgeon and plan for an ultrasound scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
