What Causes Bump On Roof Of The Mouth?

I have a bump on the roof of my mouth. At times it is hard and has a little pain if I touch it with my tongue. Other times it gets soft and feels like it shrinks down. I have had it for about 3 months now. It does not impare my breathing or eating or swallowing.

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

As per your complain a bump on the roof of the mouth that is hard but becomes soft and reducing in size seems to be most probably due to formation of a MUCOCELE that is due to ruptured duct of minor salivary gland present under the mucosa..
When the aea gets filled with mucous it feels hard..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated..
In case of Mucocele, you can be advised to first of all so gargles with concentrated salt water solution..
In case if it still does not resolve in a month then surgical removal can be done..
Do not worry as it is harmless..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
