What Causes Bumps On Tongue?

I have very tiny bumps ..... sort of like the little bumps you might get on your tongue .... but I think they are clear color on my lavias. My lavias itch especially if I sit for a long time. I retired last March (now 65 and not sexually active since my husband has prostate cancer for 9 years) and I tend to sit a lot since I have to get my hip replaced. Not sure if the constant sitting in warm Colorado has anything to do with it.

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern.

As per your query you have small bumps bumps on tongue which occurs when papillae become irritated and slightly swollen. It could be due to dehydration as well as you have constant sitting in warm Colorado. They occur due to various reasons like stress , hormonal changes or acidic and spicy food. It generally doesn’t require treatment and clears up within two weeks. Do warm saline rinses 2-3 times a day. Coat the blisters well will antiviral ointment containing Acyclovir. For pain and if you also have fever Tylenol can be taken. Maintain good oral hygiene and drink plenty of water. If condition doesn't get better in few days then consult oral pathologist for proper checkup and rule out condition like herpes or canker sore. Drink plenty of liquids and vitamin supplements.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
