What Causes Burning And Itching Sensation In Vulva?

So today I was cleaning and all of the sudden, the damp part of my vulva started burning like crazy. I ignored it as much as I could although it did get a bit itchy a few times. I just went to the bathroom and as I was wiping, it started burning a little bit again. It feels possibly a little swollen. Do you have any thoughts on what it could be from?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Mild infection, abrasions due to scratching can cause redness, inflammation or burning sensation on the vulva.Tampons and pad use in the last few days can also cause such symptoms. Proper vaginal hygiene should be maintained. After washing the area, nappy rash cream can be applied since it is very mild in nature. Antibiotic cream should also be used to reduce any infection.

In case of any history of foul smelling discharge, vaginal infections should be ruled out by vaginal smear. Drink adequate amount of fluid to maintain hydration.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
