Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Burning And Stinging Sensation In The Vagina Upon Using A Tampon?
I noticed after using a tampon (a brand that I had used before many times) my vagina started to burn and I had felt around and in some areas where I touched it stung. Did I use a tampon that was too big? My flow also wasn t that heavy, I was thinking maybe I tore something... It s been like this for 2 days but Will it start to feel normal again after awhile.
Burning and stinging sensation could be due to allergy to the tampon material. Injury to any structure would not cause burning or stinging sensation. I suggest you to discontinue the use of tampon for some time.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
