What Causes Burning Feeling And Sweating At Insect Sting Site?

I got stung by some kind of insect today -- not sure which kind as I did not see it. It felt like a scorpion in the sense that it felt like a pinch ... right in between my fingers. It hurt worse than any other bite I ve ever had -- bee, wasp, ant. But the sting site never did swell... it just continues to burn and sweat right at the sting site. This happened about 3 hours ago, and I have had no other symptoms, except maybe my tongue feels a little (very little) different -- like a little novacane has been injected into it. It s not swollen and I have no breathing effects and no other effects of any kind. I am wondering what kind of bite it is and what to do about it, if anything. It s strange and it worries me that it keeps sweating and burning.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that your have got an allergic reaction to the poisonous chemical released by the insect or scorpion whatever has cause you bite..
The numbness of tongue and burning and sweating is all due to allergic reaction of the poisonous chemical and you need to consult a general physician and get evaluated..
The doctor can advise you to take antihistamines like Allegra [Fexofenadine ] 4O mg twice a day for 5 days..
Medrol which is an anti-inflammatory steroid medicine has to be taken twice a day...
If the symptoms exaggerate injectable anti allergics and steroids can be given to you..
For pain you can take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
For local application steroid based gel can be applied at the stung site..
Do cold packs on the stung site as it will help in reducing burning and pain..
Take care while eating as numb tongue can lead to tongue bite accidentally..

Hope this information helps..
