What Causes Burning In Chest?

My husband, who was diagnosed about 10 years ago, has been on metoprolol(25mg) for a few years. Our doctor cut the pill in half (still 2x/day) and now feels that he has a burning in his chest a period after taking same; however, he did not take any yesterday and had the same burning. He has been on levadopa for several years and 81 mg aspirin - the only meds. Could the metropolol be causing the burning?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
The burning sensation in the chest is likely to be due to gastric acid. Take Cap. Omeprazole 40mg once daily for 2 weeks. Do not go to bed immediately after taking meals, avoid hot, spicy & oily foods. Do not take a heavy meal after 8pm, avoid overeating & keep your body mass index in a normal range. Thankyou for contacting healthcare magic. Take care
