What Causes Burning, Itching And White Patches On Vaginal Wall?

Hello I am 45 yrs old, Bck in Nov 2009 I lost my father who was very dear to me & my family. After his death I became very depressed and I let alot of things suffer b/c of this. My co. self and didn't perform the personal hygiene that I should have. Anyway a few mos ago I noticed this pain , itching, & burning of the walls at the opening of my vagina and upon checking I noticed these white patches on the walls. It bothers me alot and my husband of 18yrs and I have a great love life and this is getting in the way. When he hits the spot it is very painfull. I don't have the insurance to go to A OBGYN to have it checked out and it is really worrying me that it could be pre cancer what can I try or do to see if it is an infection or what
