What Causes Burning Pain Below Armpit On Left Chest?

I have had a "burning pain" on my left side - just below the armpit, chest lever. The closest thing I can compare it to is if you have ever been burned, the the sensitive pain that follows is what I am feeling. But there is no burn, no visible signs.
