What Causes Burning Sensation After Ejaculation?

Occasionally after ejaculation I get a burning sensation. It happens every couple of months or so. When the sensation occurs I have found that drinking a lot of water decreases the time that the sensation persists. I was wondering what might be causing this so I can prevent it from happening in the future.

Hi,

I have no information how old you are, but as you’re describing it, it could be consistent with a young men who has a strong libido and therefore an overactive prostate. A “stressed” prostate (also a chronically inflamed one, but then it would be more constant) can cause a burning sensation way up to the top of your penis, most often on its lower side. I recommend a careful wait-and-see approach.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Alexander Davis, General & Family Physician
