General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for asking. I understand your concern.
edema feet is retained fluid under skin of legs. This causes swelling of the subcutaneous tissue/ stretching of the skin causing stress on skin leading to tissue damage, damage to subcutaneous blood capillaries.. which leads to discoloration of skin.
Pressure on the sensory nerve endings under the skin make them sore & sensitive & causes pins & needle/ burning of skin.
The muscles under the skin are also affected by change in nerve & blood supply... and get constantly irritated to cause leg ache.
* actually Ibuprifen is meant for relief of swelling due to inflammation. edematous swelling will not be reduced by it. You need -
- Drug like lasix as per doctor's advise.
- take BP medicines regularly for a good control on BP./ reduce dietary salt intake.
-Raising leg with keeping it on a pillow would help.
- TO attack basic cause of edema is the key to edema control. Please get your self examined by a physician( specially for. kidney infection/ blood pressure & associated heart problem/ diabetes / severe anemia ). get investigations advised done. this will pin point the cause .. to allow specific treatment.
Thanks.
