What Causes Burning Sensation And Pain In The Abdomen?
I am having burning pain high in my stomach area, mainly on the left side. I take pantaprazole for acid reflux and just got back on that medicine 1 day ago after Prilosec did not completely help my acid reflux. Are there other issues I need to be aware of - that this might not be just acid reflux? The Prilosec stopped my burning pain in the middle of my back, but the soreness and burning pain are still in the front and to the left. That s why I started taking the Pantaprazole again.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to gastritis and possible peptic ulcers. I would suggest strong proton pump inhibitors like rabeprazole in sustained release form for 4 to 6 weeks. If there is no improvement then a consultation with gastroenterologist and fibrogastroduodenoscopy is well appreciated. Thanks.
