What Causes Burning Sensation And Pain In The Hip?

Hi, tonight when I went to bed, I lay on my left side, my hip area hurt so bad I had to get up and my back felt like it was burning, haven t had pain that bad in my hip before, although for some time now I have had some pain and would have to turn to my right side, setting up doesn t hurt as bad, but it still is painful, have not done anything to it, it really hurts when I lay on it, what do you think it is?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

You seem to have sciatic pain which is due to pressure or pinching of sciatic nerve fibers at the lumbar spinal level or pelvic region. During acute pain you should take rest.

Over the counter pain, medicine like Ibuprofen would relieve pain gradually. The hot pack may help.

Once the pain becomes lesser... you need investigation like MRI to pinpoint the site of compression, followed by specific management.(medicines+physiotherapy). Please consult an orthopedic surgeon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
