What Causes Burning Sensation And Redness On The Upper Lip After Waxing?

I waxed my upper lip on Monday night. It is now Wednesday afternoon and its still red and burns really bad. There all patches of dried skin on the sides of my mouth that burn really bad. Plus I can t cover it up with makeup. I don t know if the wash was too hot or I had an allergic reaction. Please help. It really hurts and looks horrible.

Hi,

As per your complain burning sensation after waxing the upper lip along with dry skin patches seems to be due to causes like either tear or removal to the top layer of the skin of the area leading to inflammation and burning sensation.

It can also be due to allergic reaction to the components of the wax..It can also be due to infection in the area post waxing. I would suggest you to consult a General Physician or a Dermatologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can help in diagnosis.

As of now you can start applying emollient gel over the area. Applying cooled aloevera gel and doing cool compresses can also relieve. You can also take anti allergics like Levocetrizine to relieve burning and Ibuprofen to relieve inflammation. You can also be advised a low potency steroid ointment to be applied over the effected area.

Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks and regards,
