What Causes Burning Sensation And Skin Inflammation After Taking Keppra?

Hi, had a seizure on Thursday, thought was caused by dehydration or sleep apnea,so far inconclusive. Awaiting sleep study. First dose of Kepra by IV resulted in burning ,red ears and chin. Skin has now peeled . Am weepy for no reason. Part of that may be a simple reaction to anxiety over what is going on but it doesn t feel like a normal reaction to me.Can t say I feel sad ,more frustrated dealing with medical staff who just don t give a dam but still weepy over even happy thoughts or just out of nowhere. Taking 500 mg twice a day.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It might be due to an allergic reaction.

As a first line management, you can take antihistamines like Cetirizine or Pheniramine for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
