What Causes Burning Sensation Around The Surgical Incision?

I just had gallbladder removed Sept. 4, 2015. Now I am experiencing burning pain right side near incision. One thing when I return home my boxer jumped on me on that spot.. i also am using my back muscles more to compensate for the pain. What should I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Burning or other abnormal sensations are more commonly due to neuropathy which refers to abnormal function of the nerves.

Neuropathy can be due to trauma to the nerves so it is possible that this is the cause for you. If this is the case, then it may resolve on its own, though this may take weeks to months.

It can also be related to: vitamin b12 or folate deficiency, diabetes, liver or kidney disease, exposure to toxins, infections such as shingles.

If it does not resolve or if you remain concerned, then blood tests can be done for the above conditions.

I hope this helps
