Hi,I am Raju.A.T (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 68yrs getting burning sensation during urination, slow urine flow, frequent urination during night.got urine blood checked.found pus cells 6-8 andepithelalcells 2-4 and RBC,casts, crystals, bacteria and others as nil. The CBC in General ok except the platelet count is 120 and it remains in this range for last one year. Would like to know is there a chance of gonorrhoea .i am monogamy for 50 yrs.had sex 1-2 times in tenderage with other.also have two healthy adult child.
The duration of symptoms is missing- I assume that to be acute / recent onset. Burning and frequent micturition is most commonly caused by urinary infection. If I were your treating doctor, after sending urine culture, I will start empirical antibiotic and review when culture report is available. Kindly review with your doctor if symptoms not getting batter after taking paracetamol and plenty of fluids for two days. Gonorrhea is unlikely, as you are monogamous and there is no urethral discharge.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam TK, Pediatrician
