Hi

Dehydration and constipation due to medications can be important cause of mucus in stools.

Presence of mucus in stool, can also be a sign of bacterial infections, anal fissures.

Adequate hydration, increased fibre in diet can reduce the symptoms. Liquid paraffin syrup can be taken at night to soften stool.

In case of infections, blood and mucus can occur in stools.Antibiotics should be administered to treat bacterial infections.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
