What Causes Burning Sensation In Chest Upon Swallowing Of Food?

Hi, I just moved to a new state and I don t have any providers under my insurance. However, I ve been having a burning sensation in my chest whenever I swallow food or liquid for almost two weeks straight now. It is almost that sensation of when you eat chips and one goes down without being chewed enough and it feels like a sharp burning pain, almost like it s stuck. At one point my back was also aching and I seem to have a cough. I m not sure if I m catching a cold or something on top of this (I had a sore throat last weekend when the pain was really bad, but no cold or fever ever broke out). It has affected my appetite and acid relievers don t seem to help. I can t see a doctor until I get health insurance out here, so I m seeking advice on what to do. Is this something I need to go the ER for (since I don t have a PCP)? Would this be something for a GI? Thanks.

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I have read the description and understand your concern.
What problem you would be having as burning sensation in the chest following food intake could be due to acute gastritis.
Kindly take syrup containing anaesthetic-antacid medications such as Mucaine Gel thrice daily and Tablet. Omeprazole once a day before food for 7 days. Do not eat any food which is spicy and oily. Take soft diet and consume more of liquids. Eat small meals at frequent intervals and do not starve for a long time.
Gradually, your symptoms should subside and should be back to normal.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
