What Causes Burning Sensation In Foot After Fibula Surgery With Screws?
i boke my ankle 8 weeks ago, had surgery on 23rd of december, the tibia, fibula broke and consequently the talis was lose. surgery consisted of a plate and seven screws on the fibula. two pins reinforced by a figure of eight wire and a screw on the tibia. First splinted plaster was removed 2 weeks later on the 10th of jan 2011 and wound clips removed. Replaced by a tight sinthetic plaster for further two weeks and removed on the 24th of jan. ever since the tight sinthetic plaster was put on i have had a sensation of smarting rubbing of a raw wound feeling including burning and stinging when wriggling my toes spercificly this feeling is only present on the tibia side of my foot. I thought that the plaster was rubbing on my wound but having had it removed and wearing nothing but a tubby grip and wound dressing the rubbing of a raw wound feeling is still their on moving my foot from side to side and up and down and also on rotation one way and the other and also my wound are comletely healed and i have been semi weight bearing with crutches from 6 -7 weeks now it is eight weeks after surgery and i am now walking without crutches for short periods . I have had no major pain at all ever since the first plaster was put on and i am having physio AND She is tryiNG TO ease this unpleasant feeling with massage but hasnt actually said the reason for this feeling can any of you tell me what this sensation is my daughter thinks it is nerve damage . I think it is something rubbing on the hardware ie wire pins and screw? sensation not present at rest only when making the movements mentioned above and not present when walking
