I am concerned about the possibility of having herpes. All other STDs have been ruled out. I had unprotected sexual intercourse with a girl that had no visible symptoms. However, subsequent to that time I have had odd sensations in my groin area. It has been about 7 months since the incident. I have not had any lesions/sores. However, I get a slight burning feeling in my groin area and thigh on the right side every now and then. It comes and goes. Currently, it has been present for 2 weeks. It doesn t hurt, it is just annoying. Could this be herpes or anxiety?
Hi, Welcome to HCM. Odd sensations, burning sensation can occur with Genital Herpes infection as a prodromal symptom prior the manifestation of symptoms (vesicles and ulcers). But they never lasts for more than 2-3 days. When the skin over the scrotal sac got inflamed due to various reasons would cause such a feeling Epididymitis has to be ruled out.Fungal infection of skin over the upper end of thigh is quite common to produce such symptoms. A careful examination by a Dermatologist or a physician can fix the diagnosis. So immediately consult your doctor. If these symptoms are not fit with any of these conditions then we will think of the possibility of Anxiety or phobia of STD/HIV. Dr S.Murugan
