What Causes Burning Sensation In Legs And Thighs While Taking Althea Pills?

Hi It s my first time to take Althea pills to regulate my menstruation and to find it after taking it my ovarian cyst may decrease in size as prescibed by my OB. Yesterday was my first day but after taking it i m having this burning/tingling sensation on my both legs up to my thighs and until now i still can feel it. Can you please help to explain this side effect? Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Althea is a hormonal preparation & is not known to cause tingling numbness on leg (You might have mistaken it for allergic reaction with itching on skin.) Or you have the symptom due to some other cause, either vitamin B12 deficiency or spondylitis, intake of pill was a coincidence. Anyway, if the symptoms continue, you should consult your prescribing doctor for proper observation &decision.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
