What Causes Burning Sensation In Mouth And Lips After Using Respirator?

I was doing some woodworking yesterday. I wear a respirator. When I had finished for the day I removed my respirator and stayed in the work area for twenty to thirty minutes. Now twenty four hrs later my mouth, tongue and lips burn. Is this an allergic reaction and something to be concerned about? I had similar sensations to a Zpack and found out I am allergic to it. Thank you.

Hi...
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns...

As per your complain it definitely seems to be an allergic reaction but respirator does not looks like the cause..
There has been allergic reaction to either any food constituent or any medications if you take any..
You can take anti-allergic medication like Benadryl, gargle with a numbing mouthwash, suck on ice pops and do cold water rinses..
You can also do cold compresses over lips to relieve burning..
In case if the symptoms does not improve or you have recurring episodes of the same you can consult an Allergist and get an allergic testing done like food challenge test, RAST test etc to rule out the exact cause of symptoms and get treated accordingly..
Preventing exposure to the allergen can avoid allergy attack.
The allergist can also provide immunotherapy to reduce the severity of allergy symptoms..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
