Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Burning Sensation In The Arm Post Nexplanon Implantation?
I had a nexplanon implanted two and a half years ago. It s caused some minor issues and a few major issues including: pulsing pain, numbness, headaches, periods long enough to lose enough iron causing me turning blue. Lately it has left a painful burning/stinging in my arm, should I be worried?
It looks like after Implanonimplantation you are having many side effects. You can get symptomatic treatment done & ignore the anxiety, but if you are unnaturally uncomfortable you can get it removed.
In some patients, Etonogestrel(the active ingredient present in the Implanon) may cause severe side effects that may need medical attention. Get it physically checked & get it treated, some side effects go away in the course of the treatment being done.
If Implanon is not suiting you well or if your body is not adjusting with it, you may go for other Contraceptive devices like Diaphragm, Condoms(male & female), Spermicidal sponge, Cervical cap, Oral pills, etc.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
