What Causes Burning Sensation In The Arms?

My hands and arms have been having a burning sensation on the top of them. It feels like a sunburn, but I m not sunburned. After I ve been outside, they feel hot to the touch too. Hot water almost burns me. It s a weird feeling. Sometimes it feels like water is hitting my arms too, when it s not raining. Could it be a side effect to something? I was recently on Doxycycline Hyclate (took it for two weeks, finished yesterday), but I didn t see this on the side effects list.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The burning sensation on the top of your hands and arms are indicating a possible underlying neurological problem with vertebral discs or pinched nerves.

I highly recommend consulting with a neurologist as soon as possible.

You need a good neurological examination together with X-ray and MRI of vertebral spine (neck, chest area) together with EMG and other nerve conduction tests.

I do not think it's from doxycycline use. It's more due to neurological issue.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
