What Causes Burning Sensation In The Chest And Nausea?
Hi, I believe that I am having a bout of esophagitis, have burning in chest and nausea ... I have dental problems that sometimes cause me to bring up dense foods such as meat and fish even if it is well chewed ... at present anything I drink or attempt to eat comes back up ... am having nausea and indjestion ... is there anything I need to do at present until I can get to my doctor? Also, should I go to g.p. or oncologist ... am breast cancer survivor.
You can help with the symptoms by eating and drinking frequent small amount of food and fluids. It is better to have 5-6 small meals than 2-3 big ones, this would reduce the reflux of the stomach content in your throat. Also try to avoid spicy food, fried food and take fruit and vegetables. Avoid alcohol, smoking and coffee.
You can also take some ranitidine or omeprazole to reduce the acidity in the stomach and improve the reflux.
You will need to see your local doctor and he will decide if you need to see the gastroenterologist or the oncologist.
I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
