What Causes Burning Sensation In The Eyes?

I have been having GERD lately, I do not have heartburn, but I feel the acid in my eyes (they burn). Sometimes in my throat and in my ears. But the burning in my eyes is what stresses me out the most...Is it really the acid or is there some other reason for this burning sensation?
