What Causes Burning Sensation In The Feet And Knee Pain?

My feet (especially when I am lying down) feel like they are burning. It is a very severe pain in my ankle that shoots up to my knees, sometimes into my thighs. Walking is painful. I cannot stand in church during worship, stand in the shower and can hardly make it up and down steps without feeling like my feet are going to give out and I would collapse. What do I do, because I have been dealing with this for over a year (it began as a tearing feeling in the arches of my feet and progressed to the entire lower leg/ankle/foot) and it is becoming a problem at work and even with my lifestyle and daily activities. What could it be?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have burning sensation in the feet and knee pain . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like Chondromalacia, Bursitis, Patellar Tendonitis, Arthritis, Osteochondritis, Ton Meniscus or sciatica . Hyperthyroidism can also cause burning sensation. I would suggest you to consult an Orthopedician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray, CT Scan , blood tests, Electromyogram etc as per suspected cause can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly.Doctor may prescribe anti-inflammatory painkillers, muscle relaxants, warm or cool compresses depending upon the cause, physiotherapy to relieve and strengthen the muscles, weight loss and doctor may also prescribe nerve supplement or surgery in severe case .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
