I am having some very sharp, burning pain in my forehead above my right eye. It happens at any time of the day and night. It even wakes me up. My doctor told me to see a eye doctor. But I don’t think it has anything to do with my vision. A couple years ago the eye specialist told me I was having ice picks headaches, realated to stress, but this is a different kind of pain. It hurts to eat, to talk loud and when I just touch the area. A couple years ago I had a skin cancer removed from the area.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It probably is not an eye problem though it is possible there could be something irritating the underside of the upper lid, however, more likely what you have is a form of trigeminal irritation of a small twig branch of the V1 ophthalmic branch. These could also be what are commonly called "ice pick" or "jabs and jolt" headaches...these are usually caused by stress but by irritation of a root division of the trigeminal nerve. My advice is to seek out a neurologist or headache/facial pain specialist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
