What Causes Burning Sensation In The Leg While On Advil?

I got a immunization shot at the age of one, it left an indent in my leg. About 2 years ago I felt like my leg was on fire I could feel the heat radianting through my shorts and jeans. I went to the bathroom to check it out and the spot was very red, swollen, and hot to the touch. I took Advil and went on about my evening. For two years now I have had pain that I could tolerate but the problem is getting worse, the pain is not manageable with Advil anymore. My leg goes numb and starts shaking. I don t have insurance that s why I haven t been to see a doctor, is there something else I can do at home for relief it hurts to put pressure on it and sometimes gives out on me?

Hi,

Vitamin B12 or B6 deficiency can give this. In such case taking supplements of these will be helpful. You can also check the blood levels of these vitamins.

Diabetics are more prone to get such symptoms due to neuropathy. Check your blood sugar levels also. Urea and creatinine levels of blood should be checked to know the kidney function also.

If these are clear then blood circulation of leg should be checked by doppler examination to rule out problems with blood supply.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
