What Causes Burning Sensation In The Lip After Taking Gabapentin?

Hi I am on Gabapentin for diabetic neuropathy. I got up out of bed about an hour ago to take one, held it with my lips and the capsule melted, putting the powder on my upper lip. Now it feels as if I burned my lip and there is a little swelling. Is this an effect of getting the actual medicine on skin?

Hi,

Capsules are mostly not to be taken this way they are to be swallowed whole.

This can cause irritation as what probably happened to you. However, most of the times it's not that serious and would settle in some time.

But avoid taking the drug this way next time.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
