What Causes Burning Sensation In The Lower Legs?

I am having burning in my lower legs and feet.. I do not have diabetes and have been given tests by a neurologist including nerve tests and blood flow and tests are non conclusive. I was given Elavil to see if it helps but now I m light headed. Could the Elavil be causing that and what other medication could helpthe burning?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concern.

Burning in your lower legs and feet could be related to neurological problem. But you say that neurological test and examination were non conclusive.

Surprisingly, your neurologist prescribed Elavil. At this point, I need to have a look at the tests you had. Please send a copy to me for further evaluation.

Elavil is a tricyclic anti-depressant. To me it has been prescribed to ease "neuropathy pain".

Unfortunately, its use is associated with lightheaded. Please avoid driving while on this medication. Sit down or stand up slowly to prevent dizziness or lightheaded.

Wish fast recovery.
