What Causes Burning Sensation In The Right Foot?

I have a slight pain on the top of my right foot--sort of to the right side. It is a slight burning sensation. Most times, there is no pain, but often when I sit and my leg is on the floor, I ll have the pain. I play tennis--usually on the clay courts--but for the past two weeks, I ve played on hard courts. I ve stopped. I m in good health. I am a male, age 76.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Peripheral neuropathy should be ruled out here. Check your random blood sugar to exclude diabetes and check vitamin B12 level to exclude B12 deficiency. Neurological examination should be done. Check serum calcium level as well as lived and kidney profile also.

If neuropathy is not the cause peripheral vascular disease history is to be taken. According to the cause specific treatment is given. If still needed NCV testing can be done. Consult physician for examination and further work-up accordingly.

Wish you good health.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami
