Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband is experiencing hotness in his head. Just had MRI, EKG, heart echo, lots of blood work, and were told all results were okay. He says it feels like hot liquid in his head. Also unreal sweating. Bed is wet, changes pjs at least twice at night.
Burning sensation in the scalp is commonly due to Bacterial, fungal or viral infection of the scalp. Get him physically examined by a GP. He may need antifungals/ antibiotics. He should take care of his hygiene & use Selsun shampoo/ Medicated shampoo.
Stress, anxiety, depression are the key factor that trigger burning sensation of the scalp. Stay relaxed, avoid stress. A medical condition called Occipital Neuralgia may cause burning sensation of the scalp due to dysfunction/disorder of the nerves that extend from spinal cord to the scalp. He may need CT & MRI to confirm the diagnosis.
Physical therapy, muscle relaxants, anti-inflammatory medications are effective. Depending upon the severity of the pathology the treating doctor may suggest per cutaneous nerve block.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thank you.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K
