Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have an IUD, it was placed last Tuesday on Halloween, I know that cramping is normal for a few days afterwards, but I had unprotected sex this morning and have been experiencing burning in my vaginal area, I also feel a bit of burning and discomfort during intercourse. I feel like it could be a UTI, but I wanted a doctors evaluation before I go and get treated.
In your case unprotected sex might have transmitted infection which i causing the symptoms. Usually IUD are also infected if proper hyegine of vagina is not maintained. You should definitely consult gynecologist for evaluation and getting started appropriate antibiotic treatment.
