What Causes Burning Sensation On The Thighs?

I have a feeling in my thigh that is either a very hot like fire feeling or a very cold feeling it is crazy but i cannot tell which one - it is like a sensation i guess you would say. I have been on 25mg of cozaar for about a year now & because i was getting very short of breath i cut the pill in half each day & have been taking 1/2 of the dosage. I was wondering if the medication could be the cause of this strange sensation i am experiencing. Thank you for any input to this situation.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The strange sensation of hot and cool feelings in thighs seem to be a neurogenic symptom. It is caused by the pressure on nerve supplying thighs or sciatica.

Treatment would be by medicines (B12 supplements, anti-inflammatory drugs), steroid injection at the site of the problem. It is ascertained by MRI scan or physiotherapy or surgery depending on the gravity of symptoms and severity of cause.

The drug Cozaar is not known to cause such side effect.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale
