What Causes Burning Sensation On Toe?

Hi,I keep getting a burning sensation in my 4th toe on my left foot every so often when it happens i find it really difficult to walk on it also when this happens i can hear my bones clicking in the lower part of my leg when walking. i am 39 yrs old 10st 4 5ft 3ins. i recently was hospitalised and diagnosed with colitis but when i was in hospital i had my bloods taken every day as my liver function tests were different all the time i have since been asked by the hospital to get my iron levels checked which i am awaiting results please can you help
