What Causes Burning Sensation On Top Of The Head?

My mother is 76 and has spinal cord stenosis just recently she has been getting a burning sensation on top of her head. Her GP has diagnosed ear and throat infection but once she finished her antibiotics the symptoms are still there. I am concerned that it maybe the stenosis causing the problem.She also has had mini strokes which have caused on set of dementia. Can you please advise me on this matter.
