What Causes Burning Sensation On Upper Lip?

Yesterday my upperlip had this burning sensation to it like it was like the pain that come if a green chilly comes in contact with the hand. Now the pain and the burning sensation are not there but the areas of my lips which felt like burning are chapped what should I do?

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain burning sensation of upper lip that had a sudden onset can be due to allergic reaction caused by any insect bite or application of any infected or expired lip balm or lipstick, use of any new lip cosmetic over the lip causing allergic reaction or it can also be as a result of allergy to any food product but the chanced of food allergy are less..

As the burning has now subsided the oral intake of anti allergic is not needed but in case you have some burning or pain left you can take allegra or benadryl for relief..


In case of chapped lips you can apply natural lip lubricants like aloe vera gel or you can apply vaseline or lip balms that you are not allergic to, to maintain lubrication and slowly the chapped lips will heal..

Do not use any lip cosmetics until you are relieved..

Drink plenty of water to prevent dry mouth and lips due to dehydration which can further irritate the chapped lips..

In case the condition does not improve in next 4 to 5 days consult a dermatologist..
