What Causes Buzzed Up After Just One Drink?

Hi there. I had a TT last October d/t papillary cx. S/P TT I have noticed an extreme change in alcohol tolerance. Not that I drank much before, but for example a few months ago was cooking & decided to have a glass of pino noir. After 1 inch of it felt extremely "buzzed" and within an hour or two was horribly hung over. A coworker suggested I try an organic bottle next time. I have purchased - but afraid to try! However; note that last Christmas I hosted our gathering from work, served & consumed myself a drink with liquor (I used not to like nor tolerate) and I was fine. This is all puzzling to me. Finally, what brought this question on again, is I tried to join my husband for one beer, and I felt horrible and completely hung over ALL day the next day.
Is this common? I take 125 mcg synthoid, 100 mg trimethoprim x 2, calcium & fish oil daily.
Any help greatly appreciated. Next endo appt. in December.

Yes, quite common. Doubt TT did anything. Actually only about half the alcohol you drink gets in, the rest is digested before it gets in.
Factors that Make More Get IN:
female gender... less digestive enzymes
non-smoker, non-barbeque eater... the liver isn't stimulated to remove organic wastes as much
Alcohol being with FOOD that absorbs it, holds it in digestion longer (full stomach)
also, takes longer for alcohol to get in, you get less of a PEAK ALCOHOL level (this is probably what you felt and the peak goes away in an hour even if the alcohol does not).
Some medications interfere with digestion of alcohol.
Grapefruit interferes with alcohol digestion
Level of metabolic activity changes alcohol metabolism (level of thyroid).
One or more of these certainly played a role and.......
Size of the person is like the size of a bottle, put the same alcohol in a small container it gets filled faster !
Other things that give you a buzz add onto the alcohol.
