What Causes Calcium Smell While Rubbing Skin Or Hands?
Hi Doctor, When I rub the skin anywhere on my body, my skin and hands have an unusual smell. It smells like what hair does being burnt under a flame. Or that I can only describe as egg shells/calcium smell. I havent being drinking enough water so that may be contributing. This isnt the first time Ive noticed this. The weather here is very cold and my skin is a little dryer than usual. What could it be?
As per my clinical experience, the atypical smell of skin indicates: - Hyperhidrosis - Hormone imbalance - Cystic fibrosis with chlorine defects - Endocrine disorders such as diabetes or others - Lipid disorders
However, a systemic review with basic lab tests and sweat test is mandatory to get precise diagnostic approach.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
